| Description: | After far too long an absence, West Sussex Guitar Club are delighted to welcome back to their stage at the Regis Recital Hall the brilliant young Russian guitarist Irina Kulikova who recently dazzled audiences at the West Dean International Guitar Festival with her virtuosity having matured into a performer of enormous warmth and vitality. Irina Kulikova was born in 1982 in Chelyabinsk Russia, the daughter of a musical family, and at the age of six commenced studying the Guitar. In 1992 she won the first prize for young guitar players at the International Competition in Chelyabinsk. This was followed in 1993 by participating in both a regional and a television competition winning first prize in both and in 1994 she won three first prizes, “Ural Guitars” Chelyabinsk, “Siberian Guitar Players” Novosibirsk and “International Guitar in Russia” in Voronezh. From 1998 to 2000 Irina studied principal guitar at the “Tchaikovsky College” in Chelyabinsk under Professor Victor Kozlov and achieved excellent results. In 2000 she began studying principal guitar at the “Gnessin Academy” in Moscow under Professor Vladimir Chlopovsky and is currently studying principal guitar in the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Professors Matthias Seidl and Marco Tamayo. This season’s concerts have proved to be exceedingly popular so please book early to avoid disappointment. |
