Description: | Emily Pailthorpe oboe Daniel Pailthorpe flute Julian Milford piano Madeleine Dring Trio Schubert Vars. on Trockne Blumen D.802 Herbert Howells Sonata for oboe and piano Rossini/Demersseman Fantasie on themes from William Tell Tonight’s players are drawn from the London Conchord Ensemble which was formed in 2002 by internationally recognised young performers, including principal players from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Opera House Orchestra, the Philharmonia and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. They perform works written for small mixed combinations of strings, piano, wind and voice, with a repertoire which ranges from the baroque to the contemporary and mixes well-known masterpieces with new discoveries. The group’s particular passion is to bring to the fore works by well-loved composers which are seldom heard because of their unusual instrumental combination. Conchord made its Wigmore Hall debut in October 2002 and followed with a European debut at the Schleswig-Holstein festival. The group performs across the UK, Europe and North America and make regular live appearances on BBC Radio 3. Conchord has a busy recording career, having already made several discs for Sanctuary Classics/ASV, Black Box and Quartz. Latest projects are Bach and Beethoven recordings for the Quartz label. |
