Description: Joy Lewes and Derrick Highes have been singing and playing as a duo since 1992, but individually, their experience of performing traditional music goes back over thirty years. Each has played and sung in folk bands, early music groups and choirs, as well as in folk clubs, concerts and at festivals. They play a variety of instruments, including Northumbrian smallpipes, whistles, recorders, guitar, hammer dulcimer, Appalachian dulcimer, crumhorn, concertina and bowed psaltery. Their material is traditional, covering songs and tunes from as early as the 15th century. They have wide experience of playing at weddings, parties and other social gatherings, often in historic venues such as Herstmonceux Castle, Michelham Priory, Anne of Cleves House,Leeds Castle and in 2005and 2006, St.Peter’s.
