Description: The Queene’s Concert is a baroque chamber ensemble performing music for various combinations of voice, flute, viols and harpsichord. Founded in 2001, the group takes its name from Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg (1744-1818) who was the queen consort of George III. A proficient harpsichordist herself, she employed a notable band of musicians at the Royal Court including J.C. Bach and Karl Friedrich Abel, and was an avid collector of music, most of which is now housed in the British Library. Tonight’s concert takes its inspiration from this collection and will feature works by Handel, Abel and Hasse, performed on copies of period instruments. The Queene’s Consort has performed widely throughout the Southeast, and has become renowned for their friendly and informative concerts.
Tickets: Single ticket: £15 (concessions £10). Season tickets represent a significant saving on buying single tickets for the whole season. Priced £50, the subscription ticket includes all four Music@Ardingly concerts, including a top price ticket for The Sixteen.
