Title: Sistine Chapel concert including Allegri's Miserere
Performed by: Brighton Consort
Time: Saturday, 15 March 2003, at 7:30pm
Place: St Peter’s Church, Brighton
Description: The choir of the Sistine Chapel in Rome was one of the most famous in 16th-century Italy. In particular the Miserere of Allegri was supposedly one of its best kept secrets. The version that has come down to us probably has little to do with the original. However, with its famous top Cs it has become a legend in itself. The programme also includes music by Palestrina and his contemporary Soriano.
