Clare Beesley, plays a wide range of flutes spanning from the cylindrical key-less Renaissance flute through to the modern silver flute used today. She is a Masters graduate of early music and historical performance practice at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague where she studied with Wilbert Hazelzet and Kate Clark. Clare has enjoyed a busy and varied career as a freelance historical player, performing in solo recitals, ensemble and orchestral settings Europe-wide. She has performed frequently with groups in the Netherlands including Concerto Amsterdam and Accademia Amsterdam and has performed with Amsterdam Baroque, Barokksolistene, Il Pomo d’Oro and the baroque-modern cross-over group Combattimento.
Clare is a devoted teacher and looks forward in 2022 to her tenth year as ensemble coach at the annual Baroque Week summer course at St Anne’s School, Caversham. She is lucky to have travelled the globe in her role as examiner for ABRSM hearing musicians of all levels and ages. Supervised by Rebekah Ahrendt, Clare is a PhD candidate at the University of Utrecht, The Netherlands, where her thesis examines 18th century connections between gender and instrumental tone through a case study of the travelling virtuosa Marianne Davies.


Rosemary Kemp, formerly a scholarship pupil and prize winner at the Royal College of Music London, taught electronic and digital keyboard, piano and harpsichord in schools prior to her retirement in December 2017. She is a qualified secondary school teacher with post graduate qualifications in special needs. She contributed to A Common Approach for the Federation of Music Services and has been a moderator for the ABRSM Music Medals. She was Keyboard and Piano Co-ordinator for East Sussex Music Service and an instrumental teacher for Brighton and Hove Music and Arts, which is part of Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival. Rosemary set up the SNAPPS Special Needs Advocates Group based in Seaford East Sussex and ran it for twenty years prior to its closure in 2012. Rosemary played professionally prior to having a family and she has continued to play at a local level for festivals, clubs and theatre groups as well as in recitals more recently.
