Description: Anna Wolstenholme is currently a postgraduate scholar at the Royal College of Music, having read music at Cambridge University. She won the Albert Cooper Competition at the Stratford International Flute Festival and was also the youngest finalist at the Haifa International Competition in Israel where she performed with members of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2002 she was also awarded the Douglas Whittaker Prize for flute chamber music at the RCM. As well as performing with the Endellion String Quartet, Anna has appeared at the Cheltenham, Cambridge and Machynlleth Music Festivals and has twice participated in the Paxos Chamber Music Festival in Greece. Recent invitations also include a concerto performance at the Burgas Festival, Bulgaria, the Montepulciano Festival and a recital at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester.
Anna regularly gives recitals nationwide with harpist Laurette Pope and pianist Alexis White in association with the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme and continues to pursue her orchestral performance having played with the CBSO, RTE Ireland, Northern Sinfonia, English National Ballet, Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Brazil), Opera East and the Philharmonia amongst others.
Alexis White needs no introduction to the Music Society, having given a highly acclaimed piano recital here in 2003.
Born in Sussex, Alexis White began playing the piano at an early age, becoming a finalist in the National Mozart Competition in 1993. She entered the Yehudi Menuhin School in 1994, studying with Nikolai Demidenko and Ruth Nye and went on three years later to the Royal Northern College of Music to study with Renna Kellaway where she gained her BMus Degree. Further study led her to the renowned Eastman School of Music in USA to work with Barry Snyder where she graduated with her Master of Music Degree in 2003.
The winner of many prestigious prizes and Scholarships, most notably First Prize in the 7th Noyers International Piano Competition in France, Alexis has given Recitals and Concerto Performances throughout the UK and abroad including venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Barbican Foyer, Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, St-Martin's-in-the-Fields, Holywell Music Room, Oxford, the Hindemith Institute, Switzerland and the Paxos International Chamber Music Festival, Greece. In 2004 Alexis reached the finals of of YCAT held in the Wigmore Hall and has featured for many years as a Countess of Munster Artist.
