| Description: | Directed by Katie Thomas. The programme will feature choral music by this rarely performed master of the French Baroque. The performance will maintain the regional flavour by including music by French composers who came before and would have influenced Bouzignac, as well as by those who came after him. As a contrast with the early music in the programme, the Consort will also sing Francis Poulenc’s “Four Motets for the Season of Lent”. Written in 1938-39, when Europe was in turmoil, these short pieces evoke the pain and suffering of Passiontide. |
