| Description: | Michael Fields - MD to Phoenix Choir - composed the evening's opening work: MIDSUMMER MASS in 2007 - "an appealing and approachable work" with influences from classical to jazz. John Rutter's joyous "MAGNIFICAT" follows. These two lovely English pieces lead to a finale of popular patriotic songs - including "Land of Hope and Glory" since the evening precedes the 60th anniversary of our QUEEN'S CORONATION. Michael Fields directs this summer programme with Phoenix Choir, three splendid soloists and a chamber orchestra, offering a very unusual and lovely way to pay tribute to Her Majesty. |
