Description: | A rare chance to hear the opera by acclaimed local composer Mark Browse. Stunning soloists, a superb orchestra and the wonderful English Arts Chorale, conducted by their founder and music director Leslie Olive, have been brought together to revive the opera Margaret of Antioch, first staged in 2004. With a libretto by Christopher Loveless and music by Warnham-based composer Mark Browse, the opera tells the story of Margaret's conversion, torment and martyrdom. It is uplifting, exhilarating and deeply moving, with beautiful melodies and moments of high drama. The opera was first performed in 2004 to mark the 1700th anniversary of the death of St Margaret. This 10th anniversary revival is being performed as an unstaged concert version of the opera. There are just two opportunities to hear it: on Saturday 19th July at 7.30pm and on Sunday 20th July at 3.00pm. Both performances will be in Warnham Village Hall. |
