Description: | Eternal Light combines some of the Latin texts used in traditional requiem settings and puts them alongside from English poems from across the last 500 years. These poems include John McCrae’s “In Flanders Fields the poppies blow”, Mary Frye’s “Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep” and a setting of Cardinal Newman’s “Lead, kindly light”. Howard Goodall describes it as "an attempt to provide some solace for the living that mourn". The concert will also include the Choral Suite from The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins. |
