Description: | Zimbe!, by Alexander L'Estrange, is an uplifting celebration of African music and combines a sequence of twelve African and gospel songs which chart a day in the life of an African village. The music is inspired by songs from Ghana and Zimbabwe and includes lullabies, a drinking song and music used for religious occasions. The piece is made up of tremendously colourful arrangements which draw on jazz, classical and world music. The word Zimbe is Swahili for "Sing Them". Since publication 3 years ago, Zimbe! has been performed all over the world. The Boundstone Chorus will be joined for this performance by choirs from Sompting Village Primary School and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Worthing and the Call Me Al Quintet. This event has been supported by Adur and Worthing Trust. |
