with The Aanna Colls Singers, conducted by Aanna Colls accompanied by David Force, organ, and Bernard King, piano. We will be celebrating some of our great British composers and poets from Elgar to Vaughan Williams, including settings of well known, traditional folk songs. The composers represented are both old and contemporary. The programme includes Tavener’s ’Song for Athene’ introduced to a wider public at Princess Diana’s funeral and concludes with Goff Richards rousing settings of traditional folk songs, including ’Dashing away with the smoothing iron’, which will get our feet tapping. There are many good local pubs and restaurants in and around the village of Herstmonceux. The church is next to Herstmonceux Castle which is open to the public during the day. |
