| Description: | Conductor and Organist Nick Houghton began his musical career at the age of seven, as a chorister at Coventry Cathedral. He studied organ with David Lepine and Robert Weddle before going on to a music degree at Bristol University, taking organ lessons with Nicolas Kynaston. He took his PGCE at Magdalene College, Cambridge and since then has successfully combined teaching with a career as a freelance musician. Nick is organist at St Michael’s in Lewes. As well as giving organ recitals, he is often heard playing continuo on his own 17th century style chamber organ or his harpsichord, or accompanying choral concerts in the South East of England. He is currently Music Director of the Lewes Singers, the Lewes Chamber Choir and the East Sussex Community Choir and was until recently Head of the East Sussex Academy of Music in Lewes. Nick is a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists. |
