Description: | Following the successes of his three-concert Franck series and then the closing concert in the Arundel Festival last year, the illustrious musician D’Arcy Trinkwon returns to play the great music of four of the towering 19th century composers – Brahms, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Liszt - on the famous 1873 Hill organ in Arundel Cathedral. This series presents a unique chance to hear the works of these four musical giants in one series; it is believed to be the first time that these works have all been heard in a series in the UK. Each of the four concerts concentrates on the complete or major organ works of each composer: June 14: BRAHMS - Complete works for organ Prelude & Fugue in A minor Prelude & Fugue in G minor Fugue in A Flat minor Chorale Prelude & Fugue on O Traurigkeit 11 Chorale Preludes, Op.122 June 28 – Schumann July 12 – Mendelssohn July 26 – Liszt One of the distinguished musicians of his generation, D’Arcy Trinkwon performs worldwide and is acclaimed for his outstanding artistry. Renowned for his dedication to bring the organ and its music as a wide an audience as possible without the need for musical compromise: he is acclaimed for lifting audiences up – not for playing down to them. “D’Arcy Trinkwon... for anyone needing to be converted to organ music.” The Musical Times |
