By his own determination he won a bursary which enabled him to study at Trinity College of Music with the pianist Irene Kohler to whom he owes much. Over the years he has enjoyed a varied and exciting career, being equally at home in both classical and lighter fields of music. He has performed in many concerts and recitals throughout the UK and abroad, including engagements at the Wigmore Hall, London, and a series of recitals on the QE2 where his helpful introductions to the programme pieces created an excellent rapport with his audience. John was privileged to partner the English National baritone Derek Hammond-Stroud at the Fairfield Halls 20th Anniversary Celebrity Lunchtime Concerts. Derek also selected John to accompany him in a performance of the song cycle “Winterreise” for the Schubert Society of Great Britain. He was a regular accompanist for Derek’s busy teaching practice in London. Through his passion, hard work and natural flair for performance he is now a highly respected and versatile pianist. More recently John is dedicating an increasing amount of time to teaching, he is a natural and inspirational teacher who thoroughly enjoys encouraging and developing his many students’ talents and technical skills. Lunchtime Concert lasting approximately an hour. |
