| Description: | The centrepiece of this concert is Schumann’s riotously imaginative work, Carnaval. Its 21 short movements vividly depict a colourful cast of masked partygoers, including characters from Italian street theatre, Schumann’s then fiancée, his future wife Clara and the composer himself. Pianist William Hancox will use the big screen both to talk us through the piece and to illustrate his performance. The programme will also include two evergreen keyboard favourites, Bach’s Italian Concerto and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Enjoy the recital in the comfort and unique atmosphere of the Hailsham Pavilion. This concert is presented in association with the Hailsham Festival |
