| Description: | More prosaically described as the Piano Trio in B-flat major, opus 97, Beethoven’s ‘Archduke’ Trio was composed in 1810 and 1811. The Trio was dedicated to Archduke Rudolph, youngest child of the Holy Roman Emperor - Rudolph was bankrolling Beethoven at the time but, with a dozen pieces written in his honour, the Archduke got good value for money. The Paddington Trio - considered to be one of the most exciting chamber ensembles of their generation - will perform this Beethoven masterpiece in the second half of the concert. The first half of the concert will comprise two other piano trios, the first by Ellen Lindquist and the second by Maurice Ravel. |
