Description: | with GoodVibes - featuring Lucy Waite, vocalist. Sophisticated jazz from the swing era and beyond. Peter Burton, drums, Peter Godfrey, piano, Steve Thompson, bass, Frank Taylor, guitar and David Jones, vibraphone. Peter Burton, leader of GoodVibes, has played with a variety of bands, and after moving to Brighton in the early 70s joined the Benny Simkins Sextet. Together with the Rutland Band he visited Peru and West Africa. More recently he has played with the Sussex based bands Sounds Like Jazz, and Brian Cotton's Cotton Club Jazzmen. Peter Godfrey has worked with the Anderida Jazz Band, the Royal Quintet and the Vanguard II Jazz Band. He has accompanied many U.S. jazz musicians, as well as many British stars. Steve Thompson has been playing jazz professionally on the south coast for the last ten years, and he has worked with some of the best players both nationally and from America. Frank Taylor, in his earlier musical career played many diverse guitar styles, including country, classical and folk, finally becoming devoted to the jazz guitar in the late 1960s. Since the 1970s he has been a stalwart of the Sussex jazz scene and has played with many British and American performers. David Jones trained at Trinity College. He was resident at 'Ronnie Scott's' and 'The Marquee' and has played with Tubby Hayes, Stephane Grappelli and Harry 'Sweets' Edison, to name but a few. he came to live in Brighton in 1991 and quickly became part of the local jazz scene. Lucy Waite has recently moved to Brighton, following several successful years working as a jazz vocalist onboard international cruiseships. Originally a classically trained soprano, she has striven for as diverse a singing career as possible. This has seen her performing jazz and soul at 'Ronnie Scott's', running a folk club in London's East End and taking lead roles in off-West End musical theatre.
